Corazonada These paintings and drawings are a selection from Corazonada, my exhibition of salsa paintings & drawings, which was first shown at Bar Latina, Tottenham, London. A selection of the paintings were shown at the Belgravia Gallery, Piccadilly, London. The gallery prices have now been reduced by 50% to clients buying direct from myself. Scroll down to see paintings & prices. Corazonada comprises six 38 x 28ins narrative portraits of couples, fifteen 16 x 13ins impressionistic paintings of dancers in motion, and 15 drawings (9 of which are shown below) in pastel pencil on A3 sized paper. All paintings are in oil on canvas. My inspiration came mainly from the London salsa scene, but the paintings also include some dancers from Ireland, where I first learned salsa and made many friends. Corazonada is Spanish for an inspiration, an impulse. The criteria for my selection of who to paint was simply that they are people who have inspired me personally, from the famous, such Susana Montero, Super Mario, Leon Rose and Solange Dias & Joseph Koniak, to the ordinary dancers who are my friends. What they all have in common though, is that they love salsa, they express themselves through dancing, and they listen & respond to the music. And last but not least, they’re friendly! The true spirit of salsa is inclusiveness, embracing and expressing that fire inside all of us! This exhibition is very much "work in progress". Time and financial constraints have dictated its extent, and I have not been able to include, at this stage, all those I originally intended to. However, I hope to include them in future exhibitions. The exhibition was opened by Joseph Koniak
& Solange Dias, UK salsa champions. Very many thanks to them for an
inspiring and moving opening speech, and a wonderful dance performance. For those not in the
salsa scene:
Joseph is also well known as the lead dancer in the BBC salsa
indent.

Drawings These drawings are on A3 size paper, but unfortunately I didn't have access to an A3 scanner, so they were scanned on an A4 scanner. This means that the images shown below are slightly cropped and the grey shadows are not present on the actual work. They will be re-scanned properly as soon as possible. In the meantime: apologies!
